Interdisciplinary artist Ann-Sofie Verhoyen brings imaginative worlds to screen using life illustration drawing and video-art. As a musician herself she is inspired by classical music. She uses her background as a harpist to pick up certain colors, themes and storylines, which she combines with illustration to create an immersive experience for the audience. Her experimentation with live illustration captures the playfulness and movement of people, animals and stories. In 2023 she graduated at the School of Arts (KASK) Ghent as a Master of the Arts Graphic Design Illustration.
Besides illustrating, she also works regularly as a videographer, filming and editing content for several prodigious classical musicians. Names such as the Ataneres Ensemble, the Ryelandt Trio, Peter Verhoyen, Raphael Bell, and Lisanne Soeterbroeck, are among those whom I have recorded, and she is regularly invited to collaborate on projects such as the Dutch International Flute Competition and the International Flute Seminar Bruges.
As a harpist Ann-Sofie is particularly interested in playing chamber music, with a preference for the flute and harp duo. Her first CD recording ‘The Nightingale’ was released in 2020 in collaboration with Peter Verhoyen, an exciting new approach to the flute and harp duo repertoire. Since 2013 she works as a harp accompanist for the International Flute Seminar Bruges.
